Cigar City Oatmeal Cookie Stout
I’m not sure at what point I fell in love with beer. I don’t believe it was the first one I drank. That was a 40 oz. Old English in my friend Jose’s backyard when I was 13. I puked. It wasn’t good times.
I think within the last two-three years is when I fell in love with GOOD beer. Not the shit you find in the big plant in St. Louis, but craft beer. That love grew a little more recently when I was fortunate enough to taste Cigar City’s Oatmeal Cookie Stout.
I’ll leave it to Evan and Doug to describe beer in the way of the home brewer. They say shit about beer that I don’t even understand. What I can tell you is I don’t like sweets. I don’t like cookies. I don’t like oatmeal. I LUST the Oatmeal Cookie Stout. Love is a strong word I don’t like to throw out, so I’ll treat this like a middle school romance.
I was in the actual Cigar City brewery when I had this, so the beer was fresh and tasty. I was amazed at how much it had notes of an actual oatmeal raisin cookie that just resonated in your mouth. It also had the thickness of a stout, but not overbearing like you were drinking an actual cookie, but also not so light that you thought it was a lager. I ended up walking out of the brewery with a gallon just of the beer because I liked it so much. My only regret? Only finishing 3/4 of it before leaving for vacation and letting it go stale. Dagger.
I don’t know that this beer will be at the brewery long, or if they’ll eventually bottle it, but I suggest you investigate by checking out the site.
