Hop Damn Triple IPA

This fantastic ale is a Triple IPA (rather than a Tripel IPA)–not something you see every day.  In fact, we won’t be seeing much of this beer at all.  I was told that only 7 cases of this limited production ale made it to Florida, which is why my 22 oz. bottle of it was so damn expensive!  Was it worth $18?  Well, anything is worth trying once, i say.  The aroma of this ale errupts with piney hops, and doesn’t retreat.  Bitterness is off the charts and greets you abruptly, with lively carbonation.  But, the balance of sweetness and bitterness is near-perfect, thankfully.  The 10% ABV is well hidden, something rare in beers this strong–but of course, there is plenty of bitterness to accomplish this.

The Triple IPA is worth a try for sure, simply to experience the amount of hoppiness.  This is a fresh and envigorating ale, without the intense yeast-alcohol flavor of a barley-wine or most beers with this ABV.  This would be a great beer with a grilled steak in summer.  Cheers!
