Southern Tier Mokah Stout
This beer was recommended to me with promises of tasting like a Jamocha shake from Arby’s. When I saw that it had an ABV of 11% I thought for sure I was going to be drinking a chocolate liqueur. While I didn’t taste the Jamocha shake, I was extremely surprised by the taste, Southern Tier really has this one down.
Not being an avid beer drinker – that is to say I enjoy a good craft beer but not as fanatical as some of our reviewers – this beer truly lives up to its description.
When empirical and creative impulses collide, the result is often timeless. The classic utility-art aesthetic of the coffee maker is an example of design and engineering working in concert.
The smell is strong with coffee and chocolate, and even though it has a high alcohol content, there isn’t a noticeable burn.
It was thick and smooth, and the taste continued through the entire sample… and the next one, and yes the next one. Even with the obvious dark chocolate and coffee, it wasn’t bitter but it wasn’t too sweet either. Dare I say a perfect desert beer.
Needless to say we all really liked this beer and it has certainly made my top 10 favorites.

Glad to see you’re taking a liking to Southern Tier beer. They are definitely one of my favorite brewers going right now. If you enjoyed the Mokah make sure to give the Chokolat a shot. It’s a bit heavier but it has a fantastic chocolate taste. Keep on chuggin’

Thanks for the comment and recommendation. We agree on the favorite, in a sea of breweries it nice to run across one that is a constant go-to. Cheers.

The taste is indescribably flavorful, more than any other chocolate stout I’ve had, including the Rogue Chocolate Stout.
