St Peter’s Cream Stout
St Peter’s Cream Stout was one of the first beers I had in college which stood out to me from the average mass produced beers. It’s been roughly 3 or 4 years since I’ve had it, and I was curious how it would stand the test of time. The beer pours with minimal head–I like to see a bit more from sweet stouts. It’s midnight black, with an aroma of licorice and earthy spices. It flows with a medium body and somewhat bright carbonation. Initially I taste some lactose and chocolate, and there’s a finish of earthy hops and coffee, with a slight taste of alcohol. Overall it’s a balanced and restrained stout, and there’s not much less remarkable about it. But, this is a good stout for those who, like myself in college, are looking for more depth and taste in stouts.
I’d recommend this as a desert beer, but maybe before you actually eat desert. Cheers!
