Great Divide Double Wit

This beer was released right about the same time as the 16th Anniversary ale, and in similarly limited quantities.  I took a chance on this, and wasn’t disappointed–in fact, I went back and bought three more!

The double wit is 8.1% abv, but you won’t know it from the aroma or taste.  it pours slightly hazy golden yellow, with a small head.  The aroma is earthy and woodsy, with a hint of grassy hops.  I love the taste of a good wit, and this definitely a good one.  it has bright, champagne-like carbonation, and you taste the spices and a little tartness, very slight.  The taste is sweet with honey and spices, and floral.  There’s an aftertaste of grassy hops and wheat, and slight bready notes, more than the Southampton Double White–but, fans of that fine beer should try this for sure.  Those with an appreciation for Belgian ales won’t be disappointed here either.

This is a perfect summer beer, exceptionally refreshing and will give you a nice buzz too.  This’ll pair well with just about anything, especially Italian or seafood dishes.
