New Belguim Series: #1 Ranger IPA
For those of us who live in Florida, and actually many other states, getting to taste beers from the delicious New Belgium brewery is nearly impossible. It’s sort of like seeing the Loch Ness Monster. Well FU Nessie, because I’m locked and loaded with beers from the Colorado brewery.
On my way to Amelia Island with my girlfriend we decided to pop over the border into Ga. and stock up. We got a nice variety and I’ll be reviewing all of those here, but let’s start with the Ranger IPA.The first sip I took, I looked at my lady and said “This shit is awesome.” The only misstep in that sentence was saying shit, because this beer is fantastic and there’s nothing shitty about it. I’m a hop head. I seriously enjoy the taste of a very hoppy beer more than a lot of other things in life.
This IPA has a wonderful hop taste, but it’s really not overbearing for those who aren’t big fans of that IPA taste. I was taken back with the hop taste at first, but it really resonates throughout each sip and leaves you wanting more. Somehow New Belgium has managed to make an IPA lover extremely happy with the beer while also attracting my girlfriend, who doesn’t really enjoy the IPA.
There’s some IPAs that I just love, Cigar City Jai Alai comes to mind and this will easily move into my top-3 favorite. My only regret is getting just a 6-pack.
